Junior Product Layout Designer (Junior Graphic Designer)

We are looking to grow our team of graphic designers with a Junior Product Layout Designer position on-site at our Reading, PA location. In this role, you will support the day-to-day production and editing of print marketing materials for our clients. This position focuses on updating existing artwork, making revisions, preparing production-ready files, and creating supporting design assets.
To finalize client artwork, Junior Product Layout Designers work closely with our in-house team of Project Coordinator (PCs), who correspond directly with our clients. Since this is not a client-facing design position, you will not need to be both a graphic designer and a customer service representative!
Duties and Responsibilities
- Edit and update existing print marketing materials such as postcards, menus, flyers, posters, and other promotional pieces.
- Prepare art files for press and print standards, including packaging natives and exporting press ready pdfs.
- Resize, adjust, and repurpose existing artwork for different formats and marketing needs, ensure artwork meets print specifications, quality standards, and project requirements before production.
- Perform supporting design tasks such as recreating low-resolution logos into a vector format, retouching client-provided photos, and modifying existing layouts and templates to meet client requests.
- Work closely with the Project Coordinator teams to complete revisions and production tasks accurately and efficiently.
- Verify that marketing products uphold design standards and follow instructions received in requests from the customer and Project Coordinator (PC).
- Prioritize, accomplish, and balance your workflow according to project importance and deadlines. Execute and prioritize multiple tasks and perform in a fast-paced environment to meet daily, weekly and monthly deadlines.
- Thoroughly proof artwork and abide by established design standards and print specification checklists to ensure error-free material.
- Be a team player; step in for other designers as needed. Effectively communicate with coworkers via email, direct message, phone, or face-to-face.
- Accept and incorporate constructive criticism to refine designs, while adapting to ever-changing design standards to align with the unique needs of various industries.
- Take ownership and remain professional in the event a mistake is made. Handle all feedback in a professional manner and appropriately prioritize dissatisfied customers.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Education Requirements
- Preferred (but not required) 2-year degree or more from a college or technical school in Graphic Design or related area of study.

Knowledge and Computer Skills
Junior Product Layout Designers at Mail Shark primarily use Adobe InDesign on Mac computers to complete their daily tasks, followed closely by Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. Knowledge of these three design applications is essential to perform this job successfully, supported by a familiarity with the following: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook or similar email client, Adobe Acrobat, and web browsers such as Chrome, Safari, and Firefox.
